High blood pressure
High blood pressure is a serious medical condition that affects over a third of the adult population in America. Medications are usually prescribed to treat this condition, but they do not come without side effects. That is why some health care professionals recommend acupuncture to their patients.
There was a clinical study done where hypertensive patients were given a series of 12 acupuncture treatments. One of the patients in the study had an average blood pressure of 145/95. His blood pressure dropped to 130/80 after 12 acupuncture treatments. He now gets acupuncture on a regular basis and his average blood pressure is 125/75.
Depression is an illness that affects approximately over 12 million women in America. It is characterized by chronic feelings of hopelessness and sadness. There was a twelve week study done that involved 34 women who had been diagnosed with depression. The results of the study were that over 50 percent of the women noticed an improvement after 12 weeks.
Diabetes is a condition that is characterized by chronic periods of elevated blood sugar. It affects approximately eight percent of the general population. Studies have shown that diabetics who get acupuncture on a regular basis are better able to control their blood sugar.
